Hello Miami Valley. I am Chef Adam, a friend of Val’s. I know that one of her favorite things to share is recipes! Well, as a chef I do, too! I will periodically be guest-blogging right here and sharing many of my favorite recipes and cooking tips on just about everything and anything related to food!
My fascination with cooking began when I was young watching both my parents in the kitchen. I imagine that is the case for a lot of you who love to cook. I also learned my love of food from my Grandma. She loved to cook for family gatherings, and she was an amazing cook. As far back as I can remember, I always had a pretty good imagination when it came to food. I remember one day when I was in fourth grade, I mixed oatmeal with Nutella and made little cookies and put them in the freezer. I was amazed at how good they tasted, and I was hooked.
I was also very lucky growing up in a military family in that we were stationed in many places throughout the United States (including Hawaii) and overseas in Europe, as well. I was exposed to different tastes and all kinds of foods from many different places around the world, not to mention all the different types of candies and desserts. It’s no wonder I have such a sweet tooth!
Throughout my life I always enjoyed cooking and baking as more of a hobby. It wasn’t until after my first college degree that I decided to go back to school for the Culinary Arts. I attended and graduated from the Culinary Arts Program at Sinclair College here in Dayton. I love to cook, but my true passion is baking and desserts. It truly amazes me how a combination of ingredients, science, and a little imagination can turn into something that is so delicious and instantly brings a smile to anyone’s face.
Well, that’s all for now. I just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. Oh, and here’s hoping all your Thanksgiving dinners are amazing – especially the desserts!
